Bushnell Trophy Game Camera HD Essential 12 MP Comparison

Bushnell Trophy Game Camera HD Essential 12 MP vs Browning Trail Camera - Dark Ops vs Browning Strike Force Sub Micro 10MP Game Camera vs Stealth Cam STC-P12 6.0 Megapixel Digital Scouting Camera

1. Browning Trail Camera - Dark Ops

Browning Trail Camera Dark Ops

For the best covert trail camera in the smallest case size, look no further than the Dark Ops cameras from Browning. These cameras feature an invisible Infrared flash to ensure game or trespassers on your property do not detect the camera while it is capturing images. The Sub Micro case size packs all the performance you would expect with 10MP picture quality, HD videos with sound, lightning fast trigger speeds and superior battery life.
  • Lightning fast 0.67 second trigger time
  • Records HD videos with sound 5 seconds to 2 minutes in length
  • Long battery life from 8 AA batteries, Batteries not included
  • 70 foot flash range
  • Includes Browning Buck Watch time-lapse viewer software
Dark Ops Game Camera Pro's:
  • Terrific Daytime Picture Quality – 10MP
  • Terrific Battery Efficiency (even in video mode)
  • Dark IR - No visible flash to alert nearby humans of the camera’s presence
  • Good Night Quality (Black & White) & Good Flash Range (Comparable to Strike Force)
  • Great Versatility & Options – The burst mode and timing adjustability are very handy
  • Lightning Fast Trigger Speed
  • Great Detection Range
  • Display for Battery Life & Remaining Photo Memory
  • Connection Port – Camera works as SD card reader by connecting to PC or TV
Dark Ops Game Camera Con's:
  • Cheap Plastic Latch – The plastic latch that closes the cover over the bottom half of the camera (control buttons, display, and SD card slot) is really easy to break.
  • No Field Viewer – There is no viewer to preview photos in the field, or to check alignment.
  • Motion Range – The range of detection is slightly greater than the camera view, and coupled with the lightning fast trigger speed this can mean the first photo may go off before the subject comes into view.
  • Digital camera USB connection cable for connecting the trail cam to a PC or TV is not included. The connection cable for my wife’s digital camera fit the trail cam, but I have used this feature a lot less than I thought I might.
  • SD Card Slot Access – For those with big fingers, the SD card can be difficult to remove from this camera; and it is virtually impossible to do with gloves on.

2. Browning Strike Force Sub Micro 10MP Game Camera

Browning Strike Force Game Camera
  • Lightning fast 0.67 second trigger time
  • Records HD videos with sound 5 seconds to 2 minutes in length
  • Long battery life from 6 AA batteries, Batteries not included
  • 100 foot flash range
  • Includes Browning Buck Watch time-lapse viewer software
Pro’s:
  • Terrific Daytime Picture quality – actually captured a Bobcat on the run with incredible clarity.
  • Fairly good IR flash range – Works well even in fairly thick timber
  • Good Night Quality – Black & White night photos but the IR flash often highlights antler details
  • Great Versatility & Options – The burst mode and timing adjustability are very handy
  • Lightning fast trigger speed – one of the best on the market
  • Great Detection Range
  • Display for Battery Life & Remaining Photo Memory
  • Good Video Quality
  • Great Battery Efficiency (especially with Lithium batteries)
  • Connection Port – Camera can be utilized as SD card reader by connecting USB cable (not included) to PC or TV.
Con’s:
  • Cheap plastic latch breaks easily (explained in further detail later in review)
  • Motion Range is slightly wider than Camera view, so with a fast trigger speed you get some photos taken prior to the animal coming into frame.
  • IR Flash is visible – This is not necessarily a con, unless you plan to utilize for security purposes or if the cam is located in an area where potential thieves may notice the flash and attempt to steal the camera. (If either of the above mentioned are an issue, the Browning Dark Ops model has a black flash which is not visible).
  • No Field Viewer – There is no viewer to preview photos in the field, or to check alignment (although for alignment purposes it does have a test mode which flashes as the camera detects motion within the detection area).
  • USB cable is not included (digital camera connection on one end, USB connection to PC)

3. Stealth Cam STC P12 6 Mp Digital Scouting Camera

Stealth Cam STC-P12 6.0 Scouting Camera

The stealth cam stc P12 is a 6.0 Megapixel compact scouting camera, with a 50-foot range designed to capture wildlife activities. It is equipped with an Energy Efficient design, Burst Rapid-Fire Mode and Quick Set for fast and simple set up. With less time available for scouting, many hunters trust their scouting cameras to aid in this time-intensive activity. Hunters that have experienced the frustration of checking their game cameras only to find the batteries to be dead will be pleased with this new Energy Efficient Design and time saving set up. Beyond the Burst Mode feature that delivers 1-6 images per triggering, this little gem is equipped with a mini USB output for quick downloading capabilities in the field. The digital 3-D camo housing adds to the conceal ability of the P12, giving hunters 'eyes' in the woods. Programming the P12 Stealth Cam is easier than ever before with the easy Quick Set dial that has three Preset modes, along with the manual set-up mode, preventing frustration as you set up your gear into the field.
  • 6.0 Mp with Video recording 15 second
  • 12 IR emitters/50 ft. and EZ Dial Programming with Quick Set
  • Burst Mode 1-6 images per triggering featuring 5-59 sec/1-59 minute recovery time out with Time, Date and Moon Phase Stamp
  • Durable Digital 3-D Camo Housing with External LCD Display and Test Mode and Low Battery Indicator
  • Time, Date and Moon Phase Stamp
